Pre-Columbian Pottery Bowl

Pre-Columbian pottery bowls are ceramic vessels created by indigenous cultures across the Americas before Christopher Columbus's arrival in 1492. These bowls were typically hand-built using coil or slab methods (without a potter's wheel), fired at relatively low temperatures, and often decorated with slips (liquid clay paints), incising, modeling, or polychrome designs. They served practical purposes like serving food or drinking, as well as ritual, funerary, or symbolic roles, frequently featuring motifs of animals, deities, geometric patterns, or scenes from mythology and daily life.
