Prehistoric pottery in California's desert regions (Mojave and Colorado/Sonoran Deserts) was a relatively late development, primarily associated with Late Prehistoric periods (roughly the last 500–1,300 years before present). It was made by Native American groups including ancestral Yuman-speaking peoples (e.g., Kamia, Mohave), Kumeyaay (Ipai/Tipai), and others in the Great Basin-influenced areas.
