A very rare item;  Carved wooden rasp with faded and worn paint, Red, Yellow and Black Colors with a Carved Avaynu head. With the forward most rasp tooth broken. 

The Avanyu (or Awanyu) is the traditional Tewa Pueblo deity of water, represented as a horned or feathered serpent. While the term "wood rasp" isn't a standard part of its mythological description, the deity is deeply connected to rhythmic sound and texture in Pueblo art and ceremony.
