A Salado duck-shaped pottery is an effigy vessels (often called duck pots or duck effigies) made by the ancient Salado culture in the American Southwest, primarily in what is now central and southern Arizona (Tonto Basin, Salt and Gila River areas) and parts of New Mexico, roughly from the 13th to 15th centuries (peaking around 1200–1450 CE).


The Salado culture blended influences from Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi/Mogollon), Hohokam, and other groups. Their pottery is famous for polychrome styles like Gila Polychrome and Tonto Polychrome—red-slipped vessels with bold black-and-white geometric designs—but they also produced plainer redware or plainware effigies in animal shapes.
