The Salish Oval Burden Basket is a traditional, highly durable utilitarian vessel created by the Coast Salish and Interior Salish peoples of the Pacific Northwest. These large, sturdy baskets were historically designed to be worn on the back to transport heavy, bulky materials. Over time, early examples that saw heavy ethnographic use have become incredibly rare and are highly valued as significant museum-quality artifacts.
