Juan Tafoya (1949–2006) was a respected potter from San Ildefonso Pueblo (P'ohwhóge Owingeh) in New Mexico, known for his contributions to traditional Pueblo blackware pottery and innovative techniques.

Born in 1949, Juan learned pottery-making from his mother, Donicia Martinez Tafoya, a potter from San Ildefonso. He became active around 1970 and continued until his untimely death in 2006 at age 57. He came from a pottery family—his grandmother was Teresa Martinez—and belonged to the Tewa people.
