Ursula Curran (b. 1979) and her brother Dwight Curran are contemporary potters connected to Santa Clara Pueblo (Kha’p’o Owingeh) and Ohkay Owingeh (formerly San Juan Pueblo) traditions. Ursula is the daughter of noted potters Dolores Curran and the late Alvin Curran. She grew up in a pottery-making household, learned traditional hand-coiling, polishing, slipping, and outdoor firing methods from her parents, and began producing her own work in her teens/early adulthood. Her pieces are typically miniatures or small vessels (seed pots, jars) in black-on-black, polished red, or buff-on-red styles, often featuring cloud, feather, geometric, or avanyu (water serpent) motifs. She has earned awards, including First Place ribbons in the Miniatures category at Santa Fe Indian Market. Sources note that she occasionally collaborates with her brother Dwight.
