Rachel Medina-Raton is a potter born at Zia Pueblo to Sofia and Rafael Medina. She learned pottery-making from her mother and has siblings who are also potters, including Marcellus Medina and Lois (likely another potter in the family tradition). She has been active since the 1980s, creating polychrome (multi-colored) jars and bowls in both Santa Ana and Zia styles. Santa Ana polychrome pottery typically features bold designs with red, black, and white/orange tones, often incorporating geometric patterns, floral motifs, or traditional Pueblo symbols, hand-coiled and fired outdoors.
