Corn Moquino (1929–2016) was a respected Santa Clara Pueblo potter known for his innovative use of the sgraffito (incised or carved) technique on blackware and redware pottery.   Born in 1929, he was the son of Benina (Bernina) Moquino of Zia Pueblo and a Hopi father. He married into Santa Clara Pueblo (to Christine Herrera) and began making pottery around 1963. Self-taught, he became one of the earlier Santa Clara potters to widely adopt sgraffito carving.adobegallery.com He incorporated influences from his Zia and Hopi heritage alongside traditional Santa Clara styles, often featuring animals (e.g., avanyu/water serpent, eagles, hummingbirds, roadrunners, scorpions), pueblo motifs, kiva steps, geometric designs, flowers, and ceremonial figures.
