Monica Silva Lovato is a contemporary fourth-generation traditional potter and third-generation silversmith from the Pueblos of San Felipe and Kewa (formerly Santo Domingo), New Mexico. She is a multimedia artist who integrates traditional Pueblo pottery with silverwork and modern techniques (including 3D printing and engineering elements) to create contemporary pieces. Her work often explores themes of generational connections, "trace," and supporting young potters. She has pursued a BFA in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Ceramics at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe and participates in exhibitions such as Grounded in Clay: The Spirit of Pueblo Pottery. She is the great-granddaughter (and namesake) of the historic potter Monica Silva (c. 1900–c. 1980), who married into Santo Domingo Pueblo from Santa Clara Pueblo and became one of the most respected early 20th-century potters there (active 1920s–1940s).
