Santo Domingo (also known as Kewa Pueblo) pottery originates from the Santo Domingo Pueblo, a Native American community located about 35 miles south of Santa Fe in northern New Mexico. This tradition is one of the oldest and most unchanged among the Pueblo peoples, with roots tracing back centuries. The pottery is renowned for its simplicity, bold geometric designs, and cultural significance, often used in ceremonies, storage, and daily life. Vases (or ollas, as traditional forms are sometimes called) are a common shape, hand-coiled from local buff-colored clay and fired outdoors in open pits.
