Fine Hard Stone with Gradual Rounded Point; a natural handle to the stone with slight finger indents and pleasing form. Minor chipping on working end which is well rounded and polished with continued use.

Southern California pestle stone artifacts are typically ground stone tools used by Native American groups in the region, such as the Chumash, Tongva (Gabrielino), Luiseño, and others. These pestles (often paired with mortars) were essential for processing acorns—a staple food source—along with seeds, nuts, roots, and other plants into meal or flour.
