Taos Pueblo Bear Family is a popular series of handmade pottery sculptures created by Jason Mondragon, a Native American artist from Taos Pueblo in New Mexico.
These charming pieces, often called "Huggie Bears" or "Huggy Bears," are crafted from traditional micaceous clay—a sparkling, mica-rich material historically used in Taos Pueblo pottery for its durability and natural sheen. Mondragon has been making these bear figures since he was a teenager, and they typically depict bear families (often groups of 2 or 3 bears) hugging or grouped together, each with unique expressions and personalities.
They are highly collectible examples of contemporary Taos Pueblo folk art, frequently sold at galleries, Pueblo markets, Etsy, eBay, and shops in Taos.
