Hand Crafted from Micaceous Clay with a Spout and a Handle
In Good Condition
Taos Pueblo pottery, particularly small pitchers, is renowned for its distinctive micaceous clay tradition. Key Characteristics Taos Pueblo (in northern New Mexico) and the closely related Picuris Pueblo produce pottery using local micaceous clay, which naturally contains sparkling mica flakes. This gives the finished pieces a shimmering, metallic luster without needing added temper. The clay fires to a range of colors from golden-tan to dark gray/black, often with a glossy or slightly textured surface.
