Thompson River Salish rectangular baskets are traditional coiled storage vessels handcrafted by the Nlaka'pamux (Thompson River people), an Interior Salish First Nation originating from the Fraser and Thompson River canyons in south-central British Columbia, Canada. Famous for their exceptional durability and striking geometric beauty, these baskets evolved from essential domestic tools into highly valuable trade items during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
