Tlingit open-body berry baskets are masterpieces of Native Alaskan utilitarian fiber art, traditionally hand-twined from split Sitka spruce roots. Originating from the Tlingit people of southeastern Alaska and parts of western Canada, these flat-bottomed, cylindrical vessels were specifically engineered to survive intense seasonal food gathering before winter.
