Yup’ik coiled baskets (known as mingqaaq) decorated with seal gut (intestine) represent a master-level fusion of utility and Arctic artistry. Originating heavily from southwestern Alaska, particularly the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region and villages like Kipnuk and Hooper Bay, these pieces are highly prized by collectors.
