Yurok lidded baskets are exquisite examples of traditional Native American basketry from the Yurok people, an Indigenous group whose ancestral homelands stretch along the lower Klamath River and Pacific coast in northwestern California, from present-day Trinidad to Crescent City. The Yurok, whose name in the Karuk language means "downriver Indian," are renowned for their intricate weaving techniques, which reflect both practical utility and cultural significance.
