Gibbs Othole is a renowned Zuni Pueblo artist from New Mexico, known for his masterful hand-carved stone fetishes. Born into a family of artisans, he began his career as a silversmith around 1980 before transitioning to fetish carving in the 1990s. As the elder of the Othole family, Gibbs has influenced many relatives and neighbors in the Zuni community. Beyond his artistic pursuits, he works as a rancher and serves as a priest in the Zuni Kachina religious order, infusing his work with deep cultural and spiritual significance. His carvings are celebrated for their technical precision, stoic elegance, and use of high-quality materials like onyx, turquoise, lapis, and various marbles.

Zuni fetishes are small animal carvings traditionally believed to embody the spirit of the animal, serving as talismans for protection, healing, and guidance. Gibbs's pieces often feature intricate details, such as inlaid eyes, heartlines (symbolizing the animal's life force), and offering bundles (small pouches with symbolic items like arrowheads, shells, or beads representing prayers or gifts to the spirit).
