A Zuni Horn Priest fetish is a rare and culturally significant carving, typically crafted from antler or horn, representing a priest figure within Zuni Pueblo religious traditions. These fetishes are associated with the Bow Priesthood, a sacred society in Zuni culture, and are not commonly produced for commercial sale due to their ceremonial importance. Historically, they were carved by members of the Bow Priest society, such as Anderson Weahkee (1958-2009), who followed the traditions of his grandfather, Teddy Weahkee. These carvings often feature intricate details like turquoise inlays for eyes or mouth, and may include offerings such as mother-of-pearl, coral, turquoise beads, or feathers, symbolizing spiritual power and protection.
