Teddy Weahkee (c. 1890–1965) was a highly respected Zuni Pueblo artist and elder known for his masterful fetish carvings, jewelry, and paintings. He is considered one of the key early 20th-century Zuni carvers who helped preserve and evolve traditional fetish-making styles, often working alongside other noted artists like Leekya Deyuse. His pieces frequently use natural materials such as deer antler, stone, turquoise, shell, leather, sinew, and feathers, with a distinctive, sometimes "distressed" or aged appearance that echoes historic Zuni forms.


The wolf is a powerful symbol in Zuni fetishes, representing the teacher and pathfinder
loyalty, family values, and strong bonds (wolves mate for life, so pairs are sometimes carved together)Survival skills, guidance, and protection.

In the Zuni directional system, the wolf is traditionally associated with the east (often depicted in white). Wolf fetishes are thought to bring direction, teaching, and familial harmony.
