Zuni Pueblo bear fetishes carved by members of the Quandelacy family are highly regarded collectibles. The Quandelacy family is a prominent lineage of Zuni fetish carvers from Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico, known for skilled stone work often featuring inlaid turquoise eyes, heartlines, and other accents. Bears represent the Guardian of the West. They embody strength, healing, protection, introspection, courage, and curative power. Their hibernation cycle symbolizes going inward for restoration. Bear fetishes are among the most common and powerful in Zuni carving.
