Josephine Nahohai (1912–2007) was a key 20th-century Zuni potter who began working in the 1950s. She drew on traditional techniques and designs, studied historic pieces, taught others, performed as an Olla Maiden, and received a lifetime achievement award. She often collaborated with her sons Randy Nahohai (1958–2016) and Milford Nahohai (still active), who continued and innovated within the family tradition of traditional and creative forms. Turtles appear in their work, sometimes as relief elements on jars/bowls or as figurines.
