The Nahohai family from Zuni Pueblo (A:shiwi), New Mexico, includes notable 20th- and 21st-century potters such as Josephine Nahohai (1912–2007) and her sons Randy Nahohai (1958–2016) and Milford Nahohai. Josephine began making pottery in the 1950s (after earlier jewelry work), drew on traditional Zuni techniques and designs (including study of historic pieces via a 1986 School of American Research fellowship), taught others, performed as an Olla Maiden, and received a lifetime achievement award. Her sons collaborated with her and continued the tradition with both traditional and innovative forms; Milford remains active.
