Zuni Pueblo (located in western New Mexico) is famous worldwide for its exquisite silver and turquoise jewelry, and among the most iconic Zuni pieces are hand-made hair combs (also called hair barrettes or hair ornaments). These are traditionally worn by Zuni and other Pueblo women to hold the hair in the traditional wrapped chignon (the squash-blossom or butterfly bun style).
