David Chavez is a contemporary Zuni Pueblo artist known for hand-carving intricate stone fetishes, including various turtle designs.  He frequently uses stones like white alabaster, ricolite, dolomite, and Picasso marble. His carvings often feature inlaid turquoise for eyes or shell accents. Authentic pieces are commonly signed on the bottom with the initials. They are typically palm-sized, often measuring around 2 inches in length.
