Jayne (sometimes spelled Jane) Quam is a well-known Navajo carver who creates Zuni-style fetishes, including turtles, often in collaboration with her husband, Lynn Quam (Zuni). They have worked together for over 40 years and live at Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico. ravenmakesgallery.com Jayne learned carving from Lynn and his late mother, Annie Quam Gasper is noted for intricate mosaic-style inlay using stone and shell scraps, which gives her pieces a distinctive contemporary sparkle. She is also known for doubled/mated animals and Six Directions sets. Lynn is particularly recognized for buffalo carvings. Both emphasize the spiritual aspects of the work.
