Max (also spelled Maxx) Laate is a Zuni Pueblo fetish carver known for detailed animal carvings, often in antler, stone, apple coral, and similar materials. He and his brother Pernell Laate began carving in the 1980s; their work is sought after by collectors. His nephew Derrick Kaamasee is also a noted Zuni carver.
