Zuni fetishes are small, hand-carved animal figures from the Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico, traditionally believed to embody spiritual powers or "medicine" for protection, healing, and guidance. Horses, while not native to traditional Zuni cosmology, are popular modern carvings symbolizing swiftness, strength, enlightenment, and healing—often created for trade or collection.

Serpentine, a soft green stone abundant in the Zuni Mountains, is one of the most common materials for these pieces due to its workability and lustrous polish. Carvings may feature details like inlaid turquoise eyes, a "heartline" (a symbolic arrow from mouth to heart representing life force), or bundles for added spiritual potency.
