Hand Coiled Black on Black Jar with a Feather Fan Motif Design a Superb Example of Maria's Pottery and Santana's Painting Signed Maria & Santana

In Very Good Condition

Maria Martinez (1887–1980) and Santana Martinez (1909–2002) from San Ildefonso Pueblo created iconic black-on-black pottery, with feather-motif jars being among their most classic and sought-after works.

Maria shaped the pots (using traditional coil-building techniques), while Santana painted the designs during their collaboration, which primarily spanned the mid-1940s to mid-1950s (following Julian Martinez's death in 1943). These pieces are typically signed “Marie + Santana” (earlier period, ~1943–1956) or “Maria + Santana” (later).
